So we have had a little rain, depending where you live, maybe a LOT of RAIN!
Where I live in Kansas, a little rain usually means a summer visitor called a mosquito.
It seems they can grow to the size of helicopters; not really but they are very annoying.
Did you know that placing certain plants near your outdoor patio can help deter these bothersome little pests?
Citronella - a nice leafy little plant gives off a strong aroma which mosquitos do not like.
Lemongrass - looks like a grassy bush and puts off an aroma mosquitos do not like.
Catnip - this plant, famous for energizing cats, creates a no fly zone for mosquitos.
Sage - is a seasoning we use with baking turkey - but it can also be used in other dishes when cooking your family meals. Besides being an edible herb, studies show it helps with the protection of mosquitos.
Lavender - a large group of folks find the scent of lavender to be relaxing and soothing, mosquitos and many other bugs do Not !
Lime Basil, Mint, Ocimum Forskolei, Pignut, Marigold, Wild Lantanas, and Rosemary are several of the other plants you may want to consider planting near your favorite outdoor space.

It's fairly easy to help protect your outdoor favorite spaces, But when you are mowing, gardening, playing sports, or on the go, it's not as straight forward. Biting flies certainly can cause aggravations in the summer, along with the mosquitos. After doing some research and experimentation on my family members, I formulated a spray for relief from both of these little critters.

With the infusion of lavender tinctures and several essential oils, I have created an
"All Natural Insect Repellent Spritz" with NO DEET!
It does not guarantee 'no mosquitos' but it CERTAINLY does make a huge difference in keeping those pesky little things at bay.
Best mosquitoe & fly repellent! Smells wonderful, not oily or sticky on your skin! Best of all, chemical free!! My son, his friends and I use this all the time.
